Overview of School

Background

The College of Music, Mozano, was founded by Rev. H.K. Baah and the Mozama Disco Christo Church (MDCC) in 2012. Situated in Mozano, a religious settlement and the headquarters of MDCC in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region of Ghana, the college stands as a significant educational institution dedicated to nurturing talents in music and other academic disciplines.

Historical Background
The establishment of the College of Music was a natural progression from the Mozano School of Music and Cultural Studies. Under the visionary leadership of Rev. H.K. Baah, the institution gained significant recognition. In the same founding year, the Ghana Education Service, led by then Director General Ms. Benedicta Naana Biney, absorbed the college as a Government of Ghana Assisted Senior High School. This status, coupled with boarding facilities, enabled the college to offer quality second-cycle education in both music and a variety of other subjects.

Academic Programs

Currently, the College of Music runs three academic programs:

  1. Home Economics
  2. General Arts
  3. Business

These programs are duly approved by the Ghana Education Service and the West African Examinations Council, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded and recognized education.

Student Enrollment and Administration

The College of Music SHS, Mozano, admitted its first batch of six students in the 2013/2014 academic year. Over the years, the student population has grown significantly. As of December 2022, the school boasts an enrollment of 797 students, comprising 280 boys and 525 girls. This growth is a testament to the school’s commitment to providing quality education and its increasing popularity among students and parents alike.

Leadership

The current headmaster, Mr. John Asmah, leads the institution. Under his guidance, the College of Music continues to thrive, maintaining its mission of delivering excellence in education and nurturing the musical talents of its students.

Conclusion

The College of Music, Mozano, with its rich history and dedicated leadership, plays a vital role in the educational landscape of Ghana. Its focus on music, coupled with robust academic programs in Home Economics, General Arts, and Business, provides students with a diverse and comprehensive education. As the institution grows, it continues to uphold its founding principles, offering quality education and fostering the talents of young Ghanaians.
